About the CAIDA Blog
objective analysis of empirical data can inform both technical and policy conversations about the Internet.
In less than two decades the Internet evolved from academic testbed to critical civil infrastructure. Objective analyses of the most rigorous and relevant empirical measurements are essential to enlightened policy, secure commerce, and public confidence.
There is an alarming and growing gap between questions the Internet science, technology, and policy communities ask and what the Internet research community can answer.
This blog is an experiment in discussing current Internet measurement and data-related issues in a format less formal than CAIDA’s research paper publications.
We plan to highlight issues that are starving for empirical grounding, to invite others to share measurements that inform a specific issue, and to narrow the gap between current debates and the best available data.
