The carriers  have expressed their positions (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/verizon-vs-netflix-whats-this-really-about\/\">Verizon<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/corporate.comcast.com\/comcast-voices\/comcast-response-to-netflixs-opposition-to-time-warner-cable-transaction\">Comcast<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.attpublicpolicy.com\/fcc\/net-neutrality-and-modern-memory\/\">AT&amp;T<\/a>), as have intermediate content providers (e.g., <a href=\"http:\/\/apps.fcc.gov\/ecfs\/document\/view?id=7521094543\">Cogent<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.level3.com\/global-connectivity\/observations-internet-middleman\/\">Level3<\/a>), and large content providers such as  <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.netflix.com\/search\/label\/net%20neutrality\">Netflix<\/a>.  And while Netflix defends its <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.netflix.com\/search\/label\/net%20neutrality\"> version of transparency<\/a>, there is clearly <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.streamingmedia.com\/2014\/06\/netflix-isp-newdata.html\">room for improvement<\/a> (Each side emphasizing the need for more transparency from the  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/article\/2365181\/service-providers\/why-netflix-video-quality-has-fluctuated-this-year.html\">other side<\/a>).<br \/>\n<\/P><\/p>\n<p>\nA few more timely and related developments this week:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The FCC finally begins to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fcc.gov\/blog\/internet-traffic-exchange-time-look-under-hood\">pursue more transparency<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Independent industry group <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitag.org\">BITAG<\/a> is undertaking its own effort to <a href=\" http:\/\/www.bitag.org\/documents\/Press_Release_-_Announcing_Internet_Network_Interconnection_Topic_(June_2014).pdf\">improve transparency about how Internet interconnection works<\/a>.\n<\/li>\n<li>This past week the <a href=\"https:\/\/ipp.mit.edu\">MIT CSAIL Information Policy Project<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.netcaucus.org\">Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee<\/a> hosted a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.netcaucus.org\/th_event\/measuring-internet-congestion-implications-for-network-neutrality\/\">briefing<\/a> introducing our (CAIDA\/MIT) research developing methods to detect interdomain congestion at specific location (presented <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.caida.org\/best_available_data\/2014\/06\/13\/presentation-at-bitag-meeting-on-internet-interdomain-congestion\/\">two weeks ago<\/a> to BITAG).  (Audio available <a href=\"http:\/\/netcaucus.org\/audio\/2014\/20140618nndata.mp3\">here<\/a> (almost 2 hours).)
